I didn’t expect it to go as poorly as it did, but at least the site was restored pretty quick. Once I installed the update the website was nothing except a blank page, including the login page. Not much I could do with that, so I had to put back all the original files. I might have another go at an update in the future, or I’ll just keep writing custom code for the website and not worry about the updates. All development would be continued by me, but we’ll see what the future holds for updates and new features.
