I think the spammers recently got their tax checks and went nuts buying domains. In the last 48 hours I can’t even tell you how many spam bots I’ve wiped out that are trying to register here, plus I’ve deleted 50+ spam comments from one of the user blogs, so for the next 24-48 hours I’m closing the flood gates to see if that helps control the rush of spam registrations. Now that I have a working captcha on the registration page it seems that more bots have been signing up, it doesn’t make much sense.

I’ll make another announcement post when the registrations are open to the public again.

Registrations are currently disabled due to having more than 100 spam bots trying to register this weekend.

I also added the podPress plugin to the website and right now I’m in the process of testing it out to make sure it’s compatible with Wordpress MU. The attached audio file is one I mixed and created myself years ago. Can’t imagine too many people using AOL anymore.

One thing I did notice when using this podcast plugin was that if you attempt to modify the default options they aren’t saving even though it says so. That could be an issue with the plugin not being completely compatible with WPMU, but I’ll keep this plugin anyway. It’s really fun to use and I recommend trying it out. Here’s the quick overview of how to add a media file to your post:

1. Using the attachment section, upload your video or music/podcast file.
2. Copy the attachment link to the “Location” text box of the Podcasting section.
3. Once you auto detect the size and duration, the only thing left to do is edit your title.
4. Read the text underneith the tag info so you can see how to add the media player to your post at the location you want it.

Today I used their contact form to rough them up a little. Now that this website’s speed is up to par, let’s hope McAfee workers do their job and put us back to a green website like we should be.

As of 11:42AM EST today (28th, March), everyone in our company from Engineering, to Network Operations, to Executive Management has dropped everything we are/were working on, to fix the issues with MySQL.

I do apologize that you all had to go through the same trouble I have with this site, but finally there’s going to be light at the end of the tunnel without switching hosts. Seems silly that they had to receive so many complaints before deciding to fix the problem. It’s best to tackle problems before they turn into larger ones causing you have to include your entire staff to help fix it.
